Miridia Technology, Inc posted on Wednesday, October 24, 2012

Company: Miridia Technology, Inc
Location: Meridian, ID, USA
Time Frame: Immediate
Budget: Max of $250 total

About this Job:

We've just upgraded our store from Magento 1.5 to 1.7, and we have a few things not working as expected. I've spent too many hours trying to figure out and fix the problems, and I'm ready to have an expert come in and take over. The problems all seem to revolve around something wrong with the multi-byte strings in the database or elsewhere in the store. For example, products with multibyte characters in their names are not showing up in the backend when viewing an order (the SKU shows, but no title). Another example is that the state drop-down menu does not populate when choosing a country that has multi-byte characters in the state names such as Germany. Several extensions are broken for similar problems. Our logs are filled with messages similar to: Warning: json_encode(): Invalid UTF-8 sequence in argument I have checked, and the relevant strings in the database do appear to be encoded correctly, and the table and column encodings appear to be correct. This job description is to fix all the items that broke with the store upgrade that I have not been able to fix yet. I believe they all revolve around string encoding wonkiness, but there may be other small errors as well. This should only take a few hours for a competent Magento guru.
